Ann Curry

Ann Curry is an American journalist and photojournalist who has worked as a journalist for more than 45 years, focusing on suffering of people in war zones and natural disasters. Curry has reported from the conflict zones of Kosovo Iraq Syria Lebanon Palestine Afghanistan Darfur Congo and the Central African Republic. Ann Curry (born on November 19th, 1956 in the city of Agana) is an American TV anchor, reporter as well as a journalist. Curry was best known for being a correspondent of the Today Show, which was a morning news show broadcast by National Broadcasting Co. Curry gained notoriety for her reporting of natural disasters and humanitarian crises which occurred in war-ravaged areas. Curry has a father who was an U.S. Navy sailor and an Japanese woman. The couple met when her father was stationed in Japan in the aftermath of World War II. Because of her father's military service, the family has moved around quite a bit. Curry graduated from high school in Ashland Oregon. Curry graduated from the University of Oregon awarded her a bachelor of arts in journalism. The diversity of her experiences and the experiences she had during her growing up likely influenced her empathetic method of communication regarding international matters. Curry's family moved frequently which is why Curry was not able to stay at a single school for more than two year. Curry attended various schools like San Diego Alameda Oregon Virginia and Virginia. Ashland was her final high school. Her first job would lead to a lucrative career by working as a broadcasting intern for KTVL Channel 10 Medford. She was the first female news correspondent at this station at the age of 22. Later, she moved into the position of an anchor and reporter at KGW an NBC affiliate located in Portland, Oregan. In the course of four years, she was appointed an anchor by KCBS TV which is located in Los Angeles. During her six-year association with the station she received two Emmy Awards.
